Top-seeded Riverside broke open a close game with a big fourth quarter to defeat No. 4 Carbondale Area, 69-56, and advance to the District 2 Class 3A boys basketball championship game Friday night at Riverside.
Leading by five points entering the final eight minutes, the Vikings outscored the Chargers, 24-16, in the fourth quarter, while converting 13 of 17 free throws to close out the win.
Gerry Rose led the Vikings with 21 points, followed by his brother, Brayden Rose with 20. Matthew Godlewski scored 13 and Connor McNally added 11 for the Vikings.
Darryl Bennett led the Chargers with 19 points, Preston Casey scored 16 and Tyler Donato checked in with 10.
